I think that we as humans have a general tendency to see and dwell on the negative parts of life… even when we are surrounded by blessings. In this pandemic, we have many excuses for complaining, but we also have so, so many reasons to rejoice.
We need only open our eyes to them.
Today I’d like to share with you some of the many ways God has been blessing me through this unique, hopefully once-in-a-lifetime experience. He’s been giving me…
A deeper appreciation of “normal” activities.
Often I don’t realize how much I love and appreciate something until it is taken away from me. Having some conveniences temporarily removed has given me a taste of just how much God has blessed me. Some of these blessings are…
– Dropping in at the senior living to chat with elderly friends
– Meeting on Sundays with church family
– Hugs!!!
I absolutely don’t deserve any of these things, and I am reminded of how gracious and kind God is to give them to me! I hope that I never take these blessings for granted again.
A deeper appreciation of communication technology.
I am so grateful for the ability to stay connected with people even though we can’t get together. It is so wonderful!
Greater intentionality in relationships.
Not having the convenience of catching up with friends at church or just dropping by their home forces me to put more effort into maintaining relationships! I have friends who are doing an amazing job in this area and are an inspiration to me. (Thank you, ladies!) Even just a simple “are you okay?” text means so much.
What blessings have you been experiencing during this crazy time? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
“I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.” – Psalm 89:1 (emphasis mine)
-Laurel
Thank you for sharing the blessings that you have gleaned from this whole experience! It has definitely made me appreciate being able to meet with our church family normally and being able to communicate with friends in other ways as well. I have enjoyed the time to bake more than I usually do and write.
